The lecture on Catherine the Great is a favourite of Ludmilla's.
Catherine the Great was an extraordinary person, the only woman included in the list of 10 outstanding people in all Russian history. The lecture is both about enigmas of her path to the Russian throne from one of German principalities, (where she, a German by nationality was born and lived for the first 15 years) and about her successful and fruitful state activity. It is also about the Russian culture, which started blooming under Catherine's rule with her stimulating and taking an active part in development of theatre, fine arts, literature.

To compliment this move towards culture and theatre, Ludmilla then performs a short, but spectacular ballroom dancing display (30-35 min), where she presents her wonderful ballroom dancing skills, performing with an outstanding professional dancer Dmitry Bulanov.

Dmitry Bulanov is one of the leading professional dancers in Russia. He has been ballroom dancing for more than 15 years and trained by the best Russian, British and Italian coaches in the world. Dmitry has participated in hundreds of competitions, including the Blackpool International Dance Festival, the UK International and the German Open. He is ranked in the 50 top Ballroom (Standard) dancers of the world and won the Bronze Medal in the European Championship (IDSF, Rising Stars) in 2007. Dmitry coaches competing ballroom couples and directs/choreographs dance shows. He is one of the first and leading certificated coaches for social dance in Russia. He participates in Professional-Amateur ballroom competitions with Ludmilla Selezneva (a Noble Caledonia Guest Speaker). Together they took 3rd place in the first ProAm Russian Championship in 2008.
